Privacy and cookies

What this site collects, and what it does not.

This page explains which personal data marcomastroddi.com collects, why, and what you can do about it, as the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Italian rules on cookies require. In short: without your consent the site collects nothing beyond what any web server records, and it never uses advertising or profiling cookies.

What is collected without asking

  • Server logs. Like every website, the server that hosts this one (Aruba S.p.A., Italy) records every request: IP address, date and time, the page asked for and the browser used. These records are needed to deliver the pages and to protect the server from abuse (legitimate interest, article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and are deleted by the hosting provider after the time its own rules set.
  • The wm_consent cookie. A technical cookie of this site that remembers your choice about statistics (accepted or rejected) for six months, so that the banner does not ask again at every page. It holds only that choice, and needs no consent.

The site has no forms, accounts, comments or newsletter.

Statistics, only if you accept

If you choose Accept in the banner, the site loads Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, services of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), to count visits and see which pages are read: the pages you view, how long you stay, the site you came from, the kind of device and browser, and the country and city where you are, estimated from your IP address.

  • Google Analytics 4 does not record or store IP addresses; Google signals, advertising features and the sharing of data with Google for its own purposes are turned off; the data are kept for two months.
  • Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<id> on this site, which last up to two years unless you withdraw your consent.
  • Google may process the data in the United States: the transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which Google LLC has joined, and on the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.
  • The legal basis is your consent (article 6(1)(a) GDPR and article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code).

If you choose Reject, or close the banner, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are not loaded and nothing reaches Google.

Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie preferences, at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page; what was collected before remains lawful. You can also delete the cookies from your browser settings.

The video on the home page

The home page shows a YouTube video in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com): YouTube sets no cookies until you play it, but your browser contacts Google's servers when the page loads, so Google receives your IP address and the details of your browser. When you play the video, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Links to other sites

The links to other sites (BeeBEEP, CopyMastro on SourceForge, Pexels and more) open in a new tab: those sites have their own privacy policies.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format (articles 15 to 22 GDPR), and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise them, write to the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date; if the purposes of the cookies change, the banner will ask for your consent again.
